Aceh is Overall Fencing Champion of PON XXI Aceh-North Sumatra

The host contingent of Aceh Province emerged as the overall fencing champion of National Sports Week (PON) XXI Aceh-North Sumatra after collecting four gold, three silver, and two bronze medals throughout the series of matches that took place until Sep. 16, 2024, at the Fencing Arena within the Harapan Bangsa Stadium Complex in Banda Aceh City, Aceh.
On the last day of the match, Aceh managed to add one gold through the women's team saber event and one silver through the men's team epée.
The province's fencing contingent had previously accumulated three gold medals from the men's team foil, men's individual saber, and women's individual saber events.
In addition, Aceh collected three silvers from the men's individual foil, women's individual saber, and men's team epée events, as well as two bronzes from the men's individual saber and men's team saber.
Meanwhile, the second position was occupied by the Riau Province's contingent, which on the last day of the match added one gold from the men's team epée event. With this achievement, the total medals won by the Riau fencing team reached 13 medals, consisting of four gold, two silver, and seven bronze.
Riau was the preceding overall champion of PON XX Papua in 2021 with five gold, four silver, and one bronze. Meanwhile, Aceh was ranked fifth in that PON edition with one gold, one silver, and two bronze.
