Bekasi – Where industry and lifestyle converge

One of the largest cities in the country, Bekasi remains bustling with over 2.6 million residents spread across its 210.49 square kilometers. Its strategic importance is underscored by its role as home to numerous factories and manufacturing plants, coupled with its status as a satellite city situated 25 kilometers to the east of Jakarta, rendering it a commuter hub for those traveling daily to and from the capital for work.

Given the influx of commuters, Bekasi naturally caters to their leisure needs during weekends and holidays. The city boasts an array of attractions for both locals and visitors alike. From shopping malls like Summarecon Mal Bekasi and Grand Metropolitan Mall Bekasi to picturesque natural sites such as Muara Beting Beach and Situ Cibeureum Lake, there's something for everyone.

Dubbed "Patriot City" for its spirited populace historically renowned for their resilience against the nation's invaders, Bekasi brims with a rich heritage tracing back to its days as the capital of the Tarumanagara Kingdom in the 5th century. This storied past is palpable in landmarks like the historic Saung Rangon building, which served as a refuge during Dutch incursions.

This locational value has translated to concrete economic benefits in the form of rapid growth, though this growth has experienced a bit of a slowdown in the past year, having only reached 62 percent of its Rp 13.8 trillion investment target by the last quarter of 2023.

Bekasi boasts the second-highest Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) per capita in West Java province, reaching Rp 118.96 trillion in 2023. Dominated by the processing industry, followed by wholesale and retail trade, and transportation and warehousing, the city's economic landscape thrives. Its favorable location has also spurred high-value developments, attracting investments from the nation's property giants, evident in projects like Summarecon Bekasi and Kota Harapan Indah townships.
