Kadin West Sumatra, Irish Chamber of Commerce discuss West Sumatra potential

Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) West Sumatra International Relations Deputy Chair Popi Mailani and Kadin West Sumatra Manpower and Vocational Affairs Deputy Chair Arief Paderi attended the meeting between Irish Chamber of Commerce - Indonesia Chairman Michael Noble and the West Sumatra Provincial Government at the West Sumatra Governor's Palace on Feb. 20, 2025.

The meeting, which was attended directly by Noble and his staff, was received by West Sumatra Governor Mahyeldi Ansharullah and West Sumatra Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Office Head Adib Alfikri. During the occasion, Popi explained the various investment and trade potential with Ireland in West Sumatra. He emphasized investment opportunities in the coffee plantation industry, which is a product of interest to the Irish side.

"We of Kadin West Sumatra see great interest from the Irish side in West Sumatra coffee. This is a golden opportunity to introduce the quality of our coffee to the international market while also attracting investment," she said.

The meeting was also attended by representatives of the West Sumatra Economic Bureau and the West Sumatra Government Bureau, as well as the West Sumatra government offices of Tourism, Education, Forestry, Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises, Plantation, DPMPTSP, and the Bukik Gompong Sejahtera Farmer Group. Isral, an Irish university graduate, was present as a liaison.

Bukik Gompong Sejahtera representatives had the opportunity to present the potential of their coffee plantations. After lunch, Noble was scheduled to directly review the coffee plantations in Bukik Gompong, accompanied by representatives of related government offices and Kadin West Sumatra. The visi is expected to help realize concrete cooperation and investment from Ireland to West Sumatra, especially in the coffee plantation industry.
