WINDONESIA February 24, 2025
PT. FAM NEXA Indonesia President Director Johnny Famin Efendy stated during a press conference on Feb. 10, 2025, that Sambas Regency, West Kalimantan Province will be given Rp6.6 trillion of investment. This also ensures that Singapore's Long Dragon Investment, one of his company's partners, will invest seriously into the initaitive.
"There are six items [of investment] planned to be built in Sambas. From city mall, hotel, hospital, [and] a campus for nurses. There will also be apartments and housing," he said.
In the near future, around 10 percent of the initial budget will be allocated. FAM NEXA and Long Dragon Investment has confirmed the budget calculation.
"That means more than Rp600 billion for initial operational funds," Johnny explained.
The initial funds will also be used to process the administrative requiremnents for the necessary permits to the Sambas Regency Government and the West Kalimantan Provincial Government. The land for development is around 16 hectares.
"We (PT. FAM NEXA Indonesia-Long Dragon Investment) have surveyed [the land, and it] has also been cleared. It is located on Penangkalan Road, and is about 1.5 kilometers from the Sambas District Head's Office," he explained.
At current condition, the road is indeed small. Hence, it will be widened to 9 meters soon. Likewise, the bridge will be built and adjusted.
"We will immediately work on the supporting infrastructure first, with the condition of obtaining all permits from the Sambas Regency Government. Since the elected Regent and Deputy Regent are reportedly inaugurated on Feb. 20, we are waiting [until then to process our permits.] Because, if the permits are not approved, we cannot start our work," he, said.
In addition to the readiness of the construction budget and its supporting facilities, Johnny also ensures that recruitment for the project's workforce will largely rely on local residents. Around 80 to 85 percent of FAM NEXA's workforce is already dominated by Sambas residents and the people of West Kalimantan.
"Well, maybe we will recruit from Singapore and Malaysia for technical experts," he clarified.
During the occasion, Johnny also explained why FAM NEXA and Long Dragon Investment chose Sambas to invest their capital.
"I chose Sambas because I have been spent a long time in the regency. I was born and raised in Sambas, and have family here. The route is very strategic. Residents from Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam are used to and often enter Sambas. Moreover, ," he explained.
