Election year impacted investments to Bandar Lampung City in 2024
WINDONESIA February 27, 2025
The Bandar Lampung City Government stated that realized investment to Bandar Lampung City, Lampung Province reached Rp2.07 trillion in 2024, or 63 percent of its annual target of Rp3.2 trillion.
Bandar Lampung City Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Office (DPMPTSP) Head Muhtadi Arsyad Temenggung said in Bandar Lampung City on Feb. 16, 2025 that investment to the city was still dominated by domestic investments, which accounted for around Rp1.5 trillion.
"Meanwhile, foreign investment amounted to Rp486.9 billion" he added.
Muhtadi said that the trade and services sector was the largest contributor towards investment to Bandar Lampung City in 2024, with 4,218 types of businesses from domestic investments and 510 types of businesses from foreign investments.
"Investment in the tertiary sector still dominates, with the largest contribution coming from warehouses, transportation, communications, and hotels. This shows that Bandar Lampung continues to develop as a center for trade and services. Meanwhile, the largest contributor for the secondary sector is the food, plastic and rubber industries," he revealed.
Muhtadi said that the less than optimal realization of investment in Bandar Lampung City in 2024 was due to several factors, including the political situation caused by simultaneous regional elections.
"In 2024, there was indeed a situation where [some] investors decided to invest because it was an election year. That is one of the reasons why investment to this city was not optimized, and we hope that investment will improve in 2025 with the stable political condition," he said.
Muhtadi also emphasized that the Bandar Lampung City Government is committed to continuing to support business actors by providing the best services.
"We are ready to facilitate investors who want to invest their capital. In addition to providing assistance, we also provide important information such as spatial planning and regulations related to investment," he said.
