Closing Ceremony of To Pamona Poso Arts and Culture Festival
May 14, 2024Central Sulawesi Deputy Governor Ma'mun Amir stated at the closing ceremony of the To Pamona Poso Arts and Culture Festival at the Palu Sports Center Park on May 5, 2024 that culture is not just a symbol. He said that culture could also be a source of economic development for communities, but it must be creatively packaged to attract both locals and tourists to do so.
The To Pamona Poso Cultural Arts Festival event was initiated by the Pamona Poso Indonesian People Association (Permippos) with the aim of introducing and preserving the To Pamona Poso arts and culture.
According to the Deputy Governor, well-maintained cultural tourism can drive improvements in community welfare. The tourism sector is does not only impact multiple industries, but it is also capable of creating more job opportunities.
Regarding community welfare, he revealed that the Central Sulawesi Provincial Government has completed a feasibility study related to New Autonomous Regions (DOB), including Poso.
"Insha Allah Poso will be designated as a city, and the regency will move to Pamona," Ma'mun explained.
The purpose of the DOB expansion is to bring services closer to the people for faster and more efficient development processes.
With the establishment of these DOBs, he hopes to see a significant improvement in public services from government institutions in each area, allowing the community to directly benefit from regional autonomy.
To preserve cultural heritage, the Deputy Governor urged all citizens to participate in efforts to maintain and develop culture so that local wisdom, especially the To Pamona Poso cultural arts, remains present throughour multiple generations.
Moreover, Ma'mun hopes that the event will consistently continue as a form of collaboration and synergy in supporting and promoting the richness of local cultural arts.
The closing ceremony was also attended by the local Family Welfare Movement's Mobilization Team (TP-PKK) Deputy Chair Halima Amir, Sigi Regent Moh. Irwan Lapata, representatives of Poso Regent dr. Verna Gladies Merry Inkiriwang, heads of various departments within the Central Sulawesi Provincial Government and Poso Regency Government, as well as community leaders, youth leaders, and traditional custom figures.
Previously, To Pamona Poso Arts and Culture Festival Organizing Committee Chair Agustin Maria Tobondo expressed hope that this event could serve as a means to further advance Central Sulawesi's culture in support of Governor Rusdy Mastura's vision, "Swift Movement Towards a More Prosperous and Advanced Central Sulawesi."
