Bengkulu Province curated 16 potential regional investments set to be offered to investors at the Bencoolen Regional Investment and Economic Forum (BRIEF) 2024 in September.

"10 regencies and cities have submitted sites that have [good] potential investment value. There are around 16 [that have been curated so far, and] we are still selecting [more sites] to be curated today by Bappenas' [National Development Planning Agency] curator team," Bank Indonesia Representative Office for Bengkulu Province Head Darjana stated in Bengkulu City, Bengkulu on Aug. 22, 2024.

He added that the sites that pass the curation will later be offered at the BRIEF investor meeting forum to be seen by local, national, and foreign investors.

"There are currently three investment projects that would definitely be offered at BRIEF 2024, namely the geothermal project in Kepahiang Regency, shrimp ponds in North Bengkulu Regency, and the fish feed industry in South Bengkulu Regency. In addition, those that pass this curation will also be brought to BRIEF," Darjana explained.

He further said that the three investment projects are worth quite high, with the geothermal investment project said to be worth more than Rp1 trillion.

"The shrimp ponds are [worth] Rp500 billion, and the fish feed industry is [worth] billions [of Rupiah]. The other investment sites which are curated today and tomorrow are also worth quite high," Darjana revealed.

Previously, Bengkulu Province had successfully held the Bencoolen Regional Investment and Economic Forum (BRIEF) in 2023.

"The forum in 2023 is the third time we have held it. The first was as an introduction, and the second - at that time in Jakarta - [is where] we started bringing in several investors," then-Bengkulu Governor Rohidin Mersyah stated.

BRIEF 2023 was attended by dozens of local, national, and foreign investors. Said foreign investors include those from Qatar, Malaysia, and South Korea.

Rohidin said that Bengkulu Province offers a lot of promising potential investments.
