The BBI, BBWI, and the Lancang Kuning Carnival Celebration Become Tourism Promotion Events for Riau

The Proud of Indonesian-Made Products (BBI), Proud to Travel in Indonesia (BBWI) and the Lancang Kuning Carnival Celebration events were officially held in Pekanbaru City, Riau from May 3, 2024 to May 5, 2024. The events are held to stimulate local economic activity, and it also serves as a platform to promote micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and other tourism sector-related industries.
Riau Acting Governor S.F. Hariyanto stated that the event serves as a platform to enhance public affection for local MSMEs products in Indonesia, especially those from the Riau Province. The event aims to promote the tourism sector in the province of Riau.
While opening the event on May 5, 2024, Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi mentioned that his ministry recorded 2 million domestic tourists visiting Riau from January to April 2024. He also noted that Riau is an example of a region that showcases its creativity, which entices tourists to engage in activities within the province.
In addition to the increase in domestic tourists, Budi also appreciated the enthusiasm of the Riau community for the BBI, BBWI, and Lancang Kuning Carnival Celebration, with sections of the road near the Riau Governor's Office, Sudirman Street, Cut Nyak Dien Street, and Cut Meutia Street being closed since 14.00 Western Indonesia Time (WIB) on May 5.
Budi Karya also gave his appreciation to the synchronized Malay Rentak dance with 10,000 dancers simultaneously performing the Malay children dance, which broke the related Indonesian Worlds Record Museum (MURI) record.
Last year, Riau successfully held the BBI and BBWI activities with a total transaction value of Rp63 billion. Those activities were conducted as part of economic recovery efforts following the COVID-19 pandemic. The Riau Provincial Government was once again entrusted to hold similar activities due to their success and combined it with the Lancang Kuning Carnival, an icon of the Riau Province, to improve their success and liveliness.
