Banten Governor Andra Soni stated that the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) exhibition has contributed to boosting the regional economy.

Andra made the statement after attending the opening of GIIAS 2025 by Industry Minister  Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) in the Bumi Serpong Damai (BSD) area in Tangerang Regency, Banten on July 24, 2025. GIIAS 2025 is one of the largest automotive exhibitions in Southeast Asia. Organized by the Association of Indonesian Automotive Manufacturers (Gaikindo), the exhibition is held on July 24–Aug. 3, 2025.

Andra said that large-scale automotive exhibitions like GIIAS are both a platform to promote the latest technology and a driver of regional economic growth.

"After an exhibition like this, there is usually an increase in new vehicle purchase transactions. Hopefully, the positive impact of this event will also contribute to an increase in Banten Province's locally-generated revenue (PAD)," he added.

Andra emphasized Banten Province's readiness to welcome investors, particularly in the ever-growing automotive industry.

"Our commitment is to provide the best possible convenience and service to all potential investors, especially those operating in the automotive industry. We in Banten Province are very open to investors interested in investing," he elaborated.

Meanwhile, Industry Minister Agus urged during his remarks for automotive industry players to remain optimistic about the strength of the domestic market.

"We are indeed experiencing difficulties now, but I believe it won't be long. I'm not saying 'one day,' but it won't be long before Indonesians return to purchasing transportation products—including automotive equipment," he said.

In addition, the GIIAS 2025 opening ceremony was also attended by Presidential Staff Office Chief Anto Mukti Putranto, Industry Deputy Minister Faisol Riza, and Banten Province Regional Legislative Council (DPRD) Speaker Fahmi Hakim.

With a variety of events ranging from the launch of electric vehicles (EVs), test drive areas, and automotive technology education for the public, GIIAS 2025 is expected to be a crucial driving factor for strengthening the national automotive ecosystem and the competitiveness of the Indonesian automotive industry.

This year, GIIAS featured 43 automotive brands, consisting of 39 passenger vehicle brands and 4 commercial vehicle brands. A total of 63 brands, including those in the motorcycle, vehicle body, and supporting industries, will also participate. GIIAS 2025 presents the launch of the latest models, electrification technologies, and sustainable mobility solutions from various national and global automotive industry players.
